In 1963 H.R.H.
Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Al Saud acquired the shipping & trading business of
Gellatley Hankey, a long established agency in Jeddah, and formed the Arabian
Establishment for Trade & Shipping Limited. AET Shipping is now owned by H.R.H. Prince Saud Abdullah Al Faisal Al Saud and his sons and daughters.
With a commitment to high standards the newly-formed company rapidly expanded and in the
process diversified into other related businesses. Nowadays the company is not only a
major shipping agency, with the added prestige of being the Lloyds Agents for Saudi
Arabia, but also operates a very successful clearing and forwarding division. In Jeddah
AET also owns a modern container repair and storage depot.
The spectacular growth of Saudi Arabian commerce and the rapid modernization of the ports
created excellent opportunities for AET. As a result AET ranks as one of the largest and
most substantial shipping agency networks in Saudi Arabia with offices in all the
countrys major commercial and industrial ports. Representation of some of the most
high profile international liner operators and ship owners forms the mainstay of
AETs shipping activities kingdomwide. This is complemented by an extremely efficient
and diverse ships services division, which handles tanker operation's at all of the
terminals in the Kingdom. As a part of the SIGMA (Saudi Investment Group & Marketing)
Group the
Shipping Division also has access to a wide range of related services from the
associate companies within SIGMA. Travel, air-cargo, LCL,
storage and cargo consolidation and re-distribution are some of the services available.
AETs management considers it an essential priority to identify
closely with the
commercial objectives of its principals and works hand in hand with individual
ship owners and
operators to achieve this aim. A major portion of AETs liner cargo portfolio is
container-oriented and our internal organization has been specially designed to provide
full back up and information service for all the clients we serve.
